Health & Beauty - Holiday Beauty Woes Solved

Going on holiday can be an absolutely wonderful thing. With a suitcase chock full of swimsuits, sandals, sunglasses, and every sort of knick knack that may be essential throughout the vacation, some items still seem to be either forgotten or deemed unnecessary. However, when a beauty emergency arises, suddenly, a traveller realizes just how far one’s arsenal of products is makes an incident that much more terrifying. In the event of a beauty-related panic attack, take a deep breath and seek out rather simple remedies one can find within the
confines of a hotel room or a nearby market.

Smudged mascara Not a very alluring view, is it? The best thing to do in this type of makeup emergency is to take a tissue and pour some lotion on it. Next, apply it on the problematic area and remove the mascara residue – do not use water! As a final step, use a little concealer or foundation and powder to brighten up a look.

Puffiness Tea bags work great for puffy eyes. The easiest way is to apply chamomile tea for about 15 minutes. Chamomile acts as an anti-inflammatory that can help reduce swelling and puffiness. Whenever using this type of treatment, make sure not to get tea in the eyes. Puffiness is one annoying issue caused by water retention or excessive amount of salt in one's diet. Another successful de-puff method is to hold a spoon that's been previously chilled in the freezer.

Oily skin Oily skin is so problematic. Still, there is some good news for those who have to face the unwanted shine on chin and forehead: people with oily skin tend to wrinkle less. However, how can we manage skin that in the late afternoon becomes so shiny? Try to always carry some blotting papers that will absorb the excess oil and shine.

Greasy hair Greasy, lifeless hair is not too aesthetic indeed. However, when in a hurry and just do not have time for a shower, there is always a great solution: dry shampoo. This is the perfect saving fix that absorbs the oil from hair follicles and reduces the shine. Dry shampoo has a powdered texture that cleans the hair without water. Use this type of shampoo occasionally, in times of emergency.

Pimples Pimples seem to make their big entrance one night before having to attend a major event. Still, no need to panic as there are fixes for this too. For example, apply some aspirin mixed with a little bit of water. The salicylic acid found in aspirin is usually combined with other active ingredients in products to fight acne. Toothpaste could also work as a drying agent, when applied directly onto the blemish but be sure to only use pastes, not gels. Another option that seems to be the most efficient would be to put an ice pack on the pimple for 5 to 10 minutes to reduce swelling, and then pat the area dry and apply benzoyl peroxide cream.

Dark circles under the eyes Wow, those mysterious panda eyes! Dark circles under the eyes are always a big problem as they tend to age us and add a tired and dull appearance to our look. Besides, they are really unattractive. The most effective remedy for dark circles is the already infamous slices of cucumber to soothe and cool those raccoon eyes. Leave them on for 5-10 minutes. If cucumbers aren’t handy, one can apply a used, squeezed out green or black tea bag. The caffeine contained in tea bags work as a great fix for dark circles by diminishing puffiness.
